Comment: excellent article inventorying costs of Large Language Models (LLM) and similar technology. But note these are current period costs and as everyone knows, costs associated with technology historically fall over time. There is no evidence costs of AI over a sufficiently long horizon won’t do the same. We may see higher costs in the near term, as demand outstrips capacity, but look at cloud storage for insight here: as demand increased we saw cost / GB of cloud storage rising. But now competition is fierce, to the point of pricing wars among the various providers. Won’t be any different for services hosting LLMs or similar models.
